Background

The civil service reform of 2002 led to the establishment of the Department of Water Resources under the Act on the Reorganization of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies. The Department of Water Resources was established on October 3, 2002, under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. It incorporated personnel from various government agencies, including the Department of Accelerated Rural Development, the Department of Public Works, the Department of Health, and the Department of Energy Development and Promotion, among others. The main mission of the Department of Water Resources is to recommend policies, plans, and measures related to water resources; to manage, develop, conserve, restore, and control, supervise, coordinate, monitor, evaluate, and resolve problems related to water resources; and to develop academic expertise, set standards, and transfer technology in water resources at both the national and river basin levels.

The Regional Water Resources Office 3 was therefore constructed in accordance with the Ministerial Regulation on the Division of Government Agencies, operating as a regional central government administration. The building is located at 307, Moo 14, Nittayo Road, Nong Na Kham Subdistrict, Mueang District, Udon Thani Province.
